Women often eat for emotional reasons rather than because of physical hunger. There is a little voice inside that says "Go ahead, eat the piece of chocolate... it will make you feel better."

When you lose the weight after your baby is born, you'll be healthier and have a lot more energy. An added benefit is that you'll be a good role model for your child. Nothing beats interval training when it comes to losing belly fat. It's particularly more effective for vegetarians since vegetarians bear a superior overall body constitution for efficient fat-burning response.

But as you just saw, interval training involves short burst high-intensity workout routine, so you must get a certified personal trainer to guide you along to avoid any potential injuries.

Vegetarian Weight Loss Tip #2 - Bodyweight Vs Dumbbell Exercises

Who says doing light dumbbell exercises with more repetitions will burn more fat fast?

If you want to boost your metabolism for maximum fat loss, you should do bodyweight exercises instead, such as pushups (or kneeling pushups if you're just getting started and have not built the strength to perform standard pushup yet), total body ab exercises, and leg sculpting moves.

Vegetarian Weight Loss Tip #3 - Crunches Can't Lose Belly Fat

Total body ab exercises work much more efficient than crunches.

Interval training is effective in burning belly fat, but without a proper vegetarian weight loss diet plan, your workout will only yield minimal result. Here's what you should do with your weight loss diet to maximize belly fat loss.

Try to prepare every weight loss meal yourself so you can control the quality and know exactly what you're eating. Go with raw vegetarian diet for best result. Not used to full raw? Half raw with minimal cooking and sauteing work fine too. Search online for an effective vegetarian weight loss diet plan if you need help in getting one.

Weight Loss For Women - Are You Still Counting Calories?

If you have ever done it, you know it's a tedious chore to count calories. It's easy to make a mistake as you measure your portions and you end up eating more than you planned.

Does healthy weight loss for women have to include counting calories? You tell yourself things like "The cookie is broken and that means there are no calories. " You know it's not true but these little tricks make for an amusing excuse.

The details of government guidelines for nutrition are continually changing so I'm not going to get into specifics. Just keep in mind that you will want to create a plan for yourself that includes all your personal likes and dislikes. A healthy weight loss program must include a maintenance plan to keep the weight off or else you are likely to gain it all back.

Women tend to think they are overweight even when they are not. Most women who think they need to lose weight are thinking of their own high standards which have been heavily influenced by images in the media.

Know that there is a better way to lose weight. Instead of worrying about how many calories you consume, realize that it's all about feelings and that you can feel good about yourself right now. If you don't you may find that once you lose weight you're still not happy with yourself. You'll just be thinner.

Take a look at your life and count your blessings. See what is already going right with your life and focus on that. Even someone feeling really down can find something good. If all else fails, you can always say "Things are getting better".

Weight loss for women is a special challenge when you find yourself munching mindlessly throughout your day.

Women with children at home mindlessly lick the peanut butter off the knife when making a sandwich. They nibble at their child's leftovers so it doesn't go to waste. They find themselves taking a little taste as they make the dinner.

I know you try not to believe it but those calories do add up. Each nibble counts. You'd be surprised at just how many extra calories you consume when you really start counting.

For women that work at home, the munchies can be a form of procrastination. You don't want to make that phone call; you're stuck on a challenging problem. So what do you do? You wander down to the kitchen for a snack.

You may not even be paying attention as you reach for a snack. But once you begin eating, you notice that the textures, flavors and smells make you very aware of the present moment very much like meditation. The problem is that when you realize how much you've eaten, the guilt sets in and you start kicking yourself.

You might make the decision that the next time you are want a snack, you will do something else instead. You might even go so far as to make a list of other things you can do. Maybe you decide that you'll go for a walk, read a book or choose celery instead. The problem is that when you are reaching for that snack, you forgot all about those choices. All your plans go out the window without even giving them a chance.

"I don't want to!" says the little voice in your head. That's when the trouble begins. That little voice is your subconscious mind which holds tight to all the beliefs you have about food. It's probably telling you that "You'll feel better if you eat that cupcake."

The key to changing your munching habit is to reprogram your subconscious mind using a simple process of self hypnosis. When your subconscious mind holds the belief that "I only eat when I am hungry", you won't have to try to remember to try out one of your non-eating alternatives. Instead, you'll simply check in with your stomach to see if you are hungry. If you are, then you'll choose to eat. If not, then you won't.

Weight loss for women is often derailed by emotional eating. You're chugging along, following your diet plan to the 't'... and then... something happens.

Maybe the boss yelled at you, your car stalled or the kids are complaining. All your good eating plans come crashing to a halt. Does this sound familiar?

Food seems to be an old comfortable friend at that exact moment. It almost seems to understand and sympathize with you. It quickly becomes a different story. You may find that you are kicking yourself for caving in to the moment of weakness.

What happened?

Reaching for food during peak emotions is pure habit. You likely learned it by watching your mother. Do you notice that it's also a common theme in movies? The girl gets dumped and reaches for ice cream. She always goes for the entire carton of ice cream.

All your friends were there and they brought presents just for you. Then what did you do? At the height of the party, when you are feeling really special...they serve cake and ice cream.

Your subconscious mind connects the two.

Ice Cream + Cake = Happiness

Doesn't that make sense? When we reach for something sweet, we are really trying to recreate a happy feeling from childhood.

So how do you gain control of emotional eating?

Weight Loss For Women: Here's The Best Trick

There is one trick that always works to for successful weight loss and it's this. Love yourself. You thought I was going to give you exercise or meal planning ideas. Maybe even tell you to park farther away from the store.

My mentor once said "There is no question to which love is not the answer" and he's absolutely right. From early childhood women constantly see an ideal image of beauty in the media, one few of us ever see reflected when we look in the mirror.

Try this. Gaze in the mirror. What's the first thing you see? If you're like most people, the first thing that catches your eye is probably your least favorite thing. How does it make you feel? Can you look in the mirror and love yourself, despite the ideal image of beauty?

A lot of money is spent by advertisers selling us the "ideal" image of beauty. From your early childhood you are constantly bombarded with beautiful images suggesting what you are supposed to look like. Most of these images are impossible to live up to. While we consciously know that the models don't look like that in real life, these are beliefs that we grew up with and they are ingrained in our subconscious mind. In effect, we were hypnotized by the media.

When you begin to love yourself just they way you are right now, it becomes much easier to lose weight. Here are three ways to get started. 1. Look in the mirror standing far enough away so that you can take it all in. Find three or more positive things. 2. Now, look closely. Look at your eyes. How would you describe them using positive adjectives? What does your smile convey? Warmth? Happiness? 3. Say these affirmations out loud: "I enjoy the way my body is looking." "I have a high self esteem." "I love myself now and that allows me to love myself at any weight."

The last tip is the most important. The use of affirmations will help to change your deeply held beliefs. The beliefs that keep you from losing weight. Begin a simple daily practice of self hypnosis by carrying a list of affirmations with you and saying them out loud a few times throughout the day. Though this process works really well, some find it much easier to purchase an audio created by a master hypnotist so you can sit back and allow yourself to be guided through the process.

Loving yourself is the best tip I can give you to help you lose weight. After all, losing weight is all about feeling good and when you love yourself, you feel fantastic. There are a lot of treatment plans for PCOS but if left unchecked could be the causation of hair thinning. The major immediate remedy for PCOS is to identify a means to bring down the weight of the person.

Carbohydrates tend to be less easily uptaken by the body when one is insulin resistant. It is better for you to steer clear and to eat instead more natural foods with higher fiber. Fresh fruits and vegetables will be best for those who are insulin resistant. Nuts, berries, fresh vegetables and fewer processed foods are the order of the day.

Avoiding sugar or highly sugared or processed foods will also be in your best interests in your PCOS diet. Avoidance of the fruit juices that may be more sugary than fresh fruit, and also staying away from items with high fructose corn syrup or corn sugar is also something you will want to do as much as possible.

A PCOS diet is a more natural and healthful diet. Protein foods are the best way to go for your condition and may help you to lose the weight that is sometimes difficult to lose for the PCOS sufferer. Your PCOS diet, in combination with exercise will go a long way toward helping you to avoid the complications that can take place in PCOS.

Just by watching an hour of TV, or flipping through your favorite magazine you know of the thousands of weight loss "plans" or diets that are around today. For women with PCOS, it may be a bit misleading or confusing.... we know we're supposed to watch our carbs, only eat "good carbs" as this is what best controls our insulin resistance, therefore controlling our PCOS. But the question is, which diet or plan do we choose?

Below are the most common eating plans used by women with PCOS. I say eating plan because I don't consider them "diets". We are not starving ourselves, eating the wrong things for a short amount of time to lose weight, etc. This is a life long choice for us. If we want to control our PCOS and its symptoms, we need to chose an eating plan and stick to it, indefinitely.

Glycemic Index

The glycemic index (GI) is a system used to classify foods with carbohydrates on how fast they raise our blood-sugar levels. There are 3 general categories:

High GI Foods (GI value 70%2B)
These cause a fast rise in blood-glucose levels
Medium GI Foods (GI value 55-69) These cause a medium rise in blood-glucose
Low GI Carb Foods (GI value 54 or less) These cause a slow rise in blood-sugar

This is considered the best option for women with PCOS. A low-GI plan is a balanced diet based with medium and low GI carbs, plus healthy protein and fats (including plenty of healthy whole grains as well as fruits and vegetables. A great plan to follow is Weight Watchers, as they base their meals on the Glycemic index principal.

South Beach Diet

The SBD consists of lean proteins, healthy fats and oils, nuts, seeds, and fresh vegetables and fruits and is a favorable diet for PCOS. The theory is if you cut back on carbs, and eat a higher percentage of protein that your body will have less insulin responses to carbs. It consists of three phases, where you slowly add more carbs back into your meals. The point of the first phase is to get rid of cravings that PCOS'ers have for carbs by eliminating them completely. Then, as good carbs are added into back, you are less likely to lose control and binge. The types of carbs allowed on the SBD are those that score low on the glycemic index.

The Zone Diet

The Zone Diet is about balancing your hormones to control hunger on fewer calories but still getting the nutrients your body needs for long-term health. The Zone is a moderate-carbohydrate, moderate-protein, moderate fat diet that has approximately one gram of fat for every two grams of protein and three grams of carbs. These dietary ratios are based off of the dietary recommendations from the Joslin Diabetes Research Center at Harvard Medical School for the treatment of obesity and type 2 diabetes.

The Zone's meals include:

Low-fat protein
Low glycemic-load carbs (mostly fruits and vegetables)
Heart-healthy monounsaturated fats
Warning !!!!

Another common "low carb" plan is The Atkins diet. This is NOT recommended for women with PCOS, in fact it should be avoided completely. The Atkins diet has been associated with a large number of heart related conditions and even death. It focuses on completely removing carbs, and eating high fat, unhealthy proteins (such as hamburger, bacon, etc) which is why we need to stay FAR away.

Women with PCOS already have a higher risk of heart disease, high cholesterol/blood pressure and stroke, so adding a diet high in fatty proteins would only increase our risk. Plus, starving your body of the carbs it needs to survive only increases the risk even more.

Millions of women around the world are unable to conceive due to Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, or PCOS, a complex reproductive disease or infertility problem. PCOS may or may not involve cysts in the ovaries, but always involves insulin resistance that causes the ovaries to absorb too much sugar and produce testosterone.

In the case of PCOS the body secretes far too much androgen, the male hormone, which counteracts the ovaries' ability to make enough progesterone necessary for a normal cycle. The estrogen level is OK; but the level of the luteinizing hormone (LH) is actually higher than usual. The luteinizing hormone is actually working overtime in an attempt to kick-start the cycle. Due to the high androgen levels interfering with the follicle stimulating hormone (FSH), progesterone is not triggered. In other words your follicles don't develop... instead they turn into pea-sized cysts on your ovaries. The ovaries can then enlarge.

Because the male hormone levels are out of whack you may develop:

facial hair
hair on other parts of your body
a balding issue
acne
obesity
irregular periods

Researchers at the Royal Alfred Hospital, Macquarie University, and the University of Sydney in Australia recently ran a clinical trial to see whether a low glycemic index (low-GI) diet might help women with PCOS achieve pregnancy more quickly.

The Australian researchers gave the women in their study two very simple options:

1. Follow a diet of 'ordinary foods' eaten in carefully prescribed quantities, or

2. Eat any foods they liked, as long as they were low on the glycemic index. Low glycemic index (low-GI) foods release sugars slowly into the bloodstream.

The purpose of both diets was to treat insulin resistance, not full-fledged Type 2 diabetes. Many women who have untreated PCOS, however, eventually develop Type 2 diabetes.

At the end of a year, half of the women who started their diets had managed to stay on plan or to 'graduate' from their diets after losing 7 per cent of their total body weight. Among the women who followed a strict, calorie-restricted plan, 63% had resumed having normal menstrual periods, a strong indication their fertility had returned. Among women who ate whatever foods they liked from a low-GI list, however, 95% had resumed having normal menstrual periods.

In PCOS, fertility returns when insulin resistance is reversed. The results of this study suggest that Type 2 diabetics, as well, may do better when they resolve to eat:

low-fat meats
fish
fruits and
vegetables

...rather than counting carbs and calories in highly processed foods.

Insulin resistance and PCOS go hand in hand. Women with insulin resistance are either at risk for, or have been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes.

Weight Loss For Women: Does It Matter?

Carrying around extra pounds influences your health and wellness in many more ways than you might imagine. Extra weight increases risk for everything from heart disease to gallstones and may have a negative impact on your sex life!

Do you need to lose 10, 15, 25 pounds or more? If carrying even the smaller amounts of 10 or 15 extra pounds may not seem like much, think again. Try lugging around with you an equivalent weight all day. How about a 10-pound sack of potatoes? See how you feel at the end of the day and imagine the impact this extra weight has on your body day after day.

Maybe you are already aware that the risk for heart disease and diabetes increases with weight gain. But did you know that extra weight also increases your risk for cancer? Being heavy or gaining a significant amount of weight as an adult increases your risk for postmenopausal breast cancer, colorectal cancer, endometrial cancer, esophageal cancer, and kidney cancer.

Women who are overweight but not obese (more than 30-35% body fat) have a 34 % higher risk of dying of breast cancer than women who are normal weight for their age. According to recent research (2006) by the American Cancer Society as many as 90,000 deaths from cancer from all causes might be prevented by maintaining normal weight.

Obesity also increases risk for stroke, hypertension, acid reflux disease, gallstones, osteoarthritis, and the formation of blood clots in the legs (that could travel to the lungs or elsewhere).

Modern medicine has actually lessened but not eliminated the risk for heart disease for those who are overweight. But there are limits. Drugs may reduce risk but not bring someone to the same level of good health as those individuals without risk factors such as high cholesterol or high blood pressure. And drugs often carry the risk of unwelcome side effects.

If all this seems depressing, there is some good news! Losing as little as 5 to 10 percent of your starting weight can be very beneficial. For someone who is 160 pounds, 5 percent would be only 8 pounds. 10 percent would be 16 pounds. So 8 to 16 pounds might be enough to lower blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar levels, risk factors for heart disease and diabetes.

In addition, a ten percent loss of weight may be just what the doctor ordered for your sex life! According to recent research by scientists at Duke University, study participants who lost as little as ten percent of their body weight claimed to have significant improvements in their sex life!

Most of the 187 participants in the study were women who reported having more sexual problems at the beginning of the study then half way through. After a year the number of women who felt sexually unattractive dropped from 68% to 28%. The weight loss seemed to lessen their fears about being seen naked and increased their desire and sexual enjoyment.

So consider this...You might choose to lose those extra pounds for your health and experience fewer serious medical problems as you age. Plus you'll not only look better and feel better now but you might enjoy more... well, you know...
